Worst: Top Twenty Most Memorable Games That Tanked

> June 26th, 2011 ---

Over the years, many games have come out and done great. On the other hand some just failed miserably. This list pay homage to those that just didn’t make the cut.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600) – This is the pinnacle of poor graphics, gameplay, and overall enjoyment. The best part of the game is the title screen by far.

Pac-Man (Atari 2600) – This was a practically unfinished game. It was poor compared to the arcade version and ended up as a joke with its poor quality and sound.

Custer’s Revenge (Atari 2600) – This game is almost unspeakable. I can’t image what was going through their mind with making such and adult-only oriented game with such lewd acts. I mean what was the point on such an old game console.

Action 52 (NES) – This game wasn’t even licensed. Nothing on this was good at all. The game, sound and levels didn’t even work and this sucker froze at every chance it got. No matter how many games it had in it, it would never be the price of 199.

Back to the Future (NES) – It’s like playing paperboy on foot. This game felt nothing like the movies and collecting 100 clocks was the most daunting and boring task of all time.

Link: The Faces of Evil (CD-i) – Part of the “Unholy Triforce” and the first of the worst. Poor graphics and gameplay led to its demise.

Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon (CD-i) – Another part of the “Unholy Triforce” didn’t improve at all upon its predecessor.

Zelda’s Adventure (CD-i) – The last of the “Unholy Triforce” and was the last failure. Even though they switch to a top down perspective, it seems that it still was never game quality.

Smurf Rescue (ColecoVision) – This was a poorly made game that felt all wrong. You died so easily in this game that you may as well have spent more time dead. The perverted easter egg at the end didn’t help their cause either.

Catfight (PC) – Was a poor sexist game and quite possibly the worst PC game of all time.

CrazyBus (Mega Drive) – I don’t even know what to say about this. This game had it all… or not. You got to pick your own bus and drive it 2D on screen for roughly 8 seconds. That’s all. Who makes this stuff?

Superman (N64) – This game should have never been put out. It’s repetitive gameplay and low quality made it so painful to play that it was quickly hated by most fans. Good luck getting the buttons to actually work.

Daikatana (N64, PC) – This game was the pinnacle of poor planning. It took three years to come out just to get poor, stereotypical characters and lame gameplay. This is one of the biggest failures in the entire gaming industry.

Charlie’s Angels (GC) – This game was so bad that it would make babies cry. The fighting mechanics were dirt poor, the gameplay and plot were sloppy and worst of all the character renderings weren’t even attractive. I’d call it a huge failure.

Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis (GameCube, Xbox) – This game had so much potential, but could not deliver. This is a pathetic brawler with nothing good about it at all. Perhaps it deserved and award for bad games named after it.

Honorable Mention:
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends (NES) – Unresponsive controls and terrible quality
Batman: Dark Tomorrow (GC, Xbox) – Terrible gameplay and bad camera angles make for bad gameplay
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) (360, PS3) – Shames the entire series with poor gameplay, glitches left and right and a downright awful story
Super Columbine Massacre RPG (PC) – Horrible gamplay, horrible plot, horrible quality and just plain wrong.
Revolution X (Arcade, SNES, PSX, Mega Drive, Saturn) – Insanely outrageous plot, confusing gamplay and frustrating controls.
